New sim not working

Asking for my Mother as she is not that technical. She has recently been given a new sim (not sure why). However since she has been using it the phone (which is ancient) has been losing signal a lot so she has been able to text or call at all.

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community. 

Very sorry your mother has been having some issues with the signal since getting the new SIM, this isn't good. 

No changes should happen with the signal, so I'm not sure what's causing this. 

Can I ask what handset make and model your mother is using?

Is the signal poor everywhere? 

Is the SIM in the phone correct and the SIM reader isn't loose?

 

Do you have the postcode, if specific to one area and I can check for any known issues?

Hello 

As I said before it is a very old phone. 

Samsung SGH-X450 I think is the model.

It was working fine before though.

The area is Sp13jq she doesn’t travel far at the moment. I have checked the phone and it all looks fine to me.

Everything does look fine in the area. 

 

Is it possible that your mum can try the SIM in another phone and see if the issue continues?

If not then let us know and we can pop you a personal message to grab some details and take a closer look.

I have tried the sim in another phone and the same happens loses signal and the phone cuts out. 🤔
