New sim not working

Received new sim as advised,but when I inserted new sim got message, Sim not valid.

So will not work, bit concerned as letter stated old sim will be switched off eventually.

Any advice

Your phone is likely to be network locked, particularly is it is an older model.

Check on your letter or on the bottom left of the red plastic card for an unblocking code.

If you have already sent the switch text and got a date for switching it maybe too late to unlock the phone as the process appears to need a SIM that is currently active on the EE network.

What phone is it? Some have an 'escape clause in that they can be unlocked without a SIM inserted.
