I'm 81 and also have the same problem "Sim Card Not Valid"... I too have a really old Nokia (My son seems to think it should be either on Antiques Road Show or even the Nokia Museum) is there a solution please ?
No it just says SIM not valid and then after about 5 minutes the message changes to Please power off/on your handset. I have tried that several times but to no avail ... SIM not valid. Can I not continue to use the old Sim card ?
Hmmm just tried the old sim in my old phone and have successfully just called my son ? Can I carry on using this ? Sorry if I'm asking a silly question but I'm afraid technology passed me going the other way ...
My mother has the same issue. She has a Nokia 1112 and was recently sent a new SIM that wouldn't work on it. She doesn't want to change mobile, and after an hour navigating the switchboard was told that the phone would have to be unlocked for it to work. Has anyone else been told this? I find it astonishing that a phone that works perfectly well with a Virgin mobile SIM card would have to be unlocked for it to work with a different Virgin Mobile SIM card. Can anyone explain this to me? To get it unlocked requires the phone to be sent away and payment, which I think is appalling. It costs more to do this than to get a new phone, and my mother really does not want a new phone.
