Re: New sim not valid problem

Hi Emily ,

Thank you nice to be part of the community

No it just says SIM not valid and then after about 5 minutes the message changes to Please power off/on your handset. I have tried that several times but to no avail ... SIM not valid.  Can I not continue to use the old Sim card ?

rgds

Re: New sim not valid problem

The old SIM card would now be disabled I'm afraid, can you please try this in an alternative handset?

Thanks, Emily.

Re: New sim not valid problem

Thanks Emily,

Hmmm just tried the old sim in my old phone and have successfully just called my son ? Can I carry on using this ? Sorry if I'm asking a silly question but I'm afraid technology passed me going the other way ...

best regards

Molly

Re: New sim not valid problem

That would suggest this SIM card hasn't been activated, the older SIM cards would stop working as we've switched to our own network.

I'll pop you over a private message so we can do this for you.

Thanks, Emily.

Re: New sim not valid problem

My mother has the same issue. She has a Nokia 1112 and was recently sent a new SIM that wouldn't work on it. She doesn't want to change mobile, and after an hour navigating the switchboard was told that the phone would have to be unlocked for it to work. Has anyone else been told this? I find it astonishing that a phone that works perfectly well with a Virgin mobile SIM card would have to be unlocked for it to work with a different Virgin Mobile SIM card. Can anyone explain this to me? To get it unlocked requires the phone to be sent away and payment, which I think is appalling. It costs more to do this than to get a new phone, and my mother really does not want a new phone.

Re: New sim not valid problem

Hi, as you can see there are a lot of people all having the same problem with old nokia phones,

One of the Virgin guys did try to sort this out but we got knowhere.

I'm the end I bought a similar newer phone and it worked straight away

Hope this helps.
