New purple SIM not working

I inserted the new purple SIM card in my Virgin Mobile Sony Ericsson W302. Ascreen message says Insert correct SIM card and lower down the screen is a flashing cursor.

I put my old SIM back in and it shows Emergency Calls only.

Help.

As it is an older phone, more than likely it was locked by Virgin. Their old SIM cards were basically rebranded EE so the phone will work on any EE based SIM card.

The new cards supplied by Virgin report a different network number.

You will need to request Virgin to unlock your phone.

Thank you. On the letter accompanying the new SIM are two long unlock codes but at the flashing cursor only allows for three digits to be entered. Any idea how I put in the codes?

Thanks. That did work and I got into the unlock menu. On my letter it has Code 1 and Code 2.

I entered the Code 1 number into the first menu option - Network (the 2nd option is SP) and it showed Wrong code. I guess I had better get onto Virgin before I lock up the phone completely.
