New Sim requires Network Key

I can see this has been an issue before. New SIM just received requires Network Key. I have entered the 'personal unblocking' key, which is printed on the Sim card, but it does not work. Can anybody help. 

I have found it impossible to get through to 789.

So I can assist further, can I ask the following;

 

  • How many times did you enter the unlocking code?
  • Is this handset a Virgin Mobile handset or non-VM
  • What handset is it please?

Hi and thanks for your response.

My phone is a VM560, a Virgin branded item, which I assume is locked to the old network.

I entered the unlock code shown on the new sim about 3-4 times, just in case I had made a mistake.

Quite clearly, the number shown on the card is different to that required by the new network.

Sadly, the letter provided by VM is not helpful.

The code on the card belongs to the sim, not the phone. Phone probably locked to EE. You do need to ring 789 (or 03456000789, chargeable)or use online message. I have several Virgin phones, I got the Network key(and Serv Prov code) . Codes for 2 worked. Gave up on one.

Thanks for your reply.

I tried ringing 789, but rather than speak to someone, it simply sends by SMS an online link. Live chat was a waste of time, firstly it is difficult to find the link and you end up going around in circles. When you do finally have a response, they ask you for your telephone password and when you say you don't know it they tell you to ring 789.

I tried to raise a complaint online, but when you click on the link it does not work - I wonder why.

Still, I live in hope and keep my fingers crossed that John might find a solution.

I did register my phone numbers when I got the new sims. 789 & 03456000789 9am to 6pm.
