I have a non-smart phone (Siemens A65) which is pay-as-you-go. Have been sent a new SIM but having inserted the new SIM the phone shows "disabled! NETWORK LOCK." and SOS is the only box on the screen.
Having contacted the Virgin I was given some codes to enter but none of the keys other than CLEAR (once you enter the codes) has any function. No other messages appear on the screen . Can anyone help?

I'm sorry that you've been having some issues with your new SIM in your handset.
I believe that you have to enter in a button sequence to prompt entering in the unlock code, as this is usually the case for older handsets.
Can you please try composing the following with your new SIM in:
*#0001*CODE# (obviously replacing 'code' with your unlock code that's been provided to you)
If that fails to work, can you try entering: *#0000*CODE# instead please?
