New SIM for Oakcastle relatively new phone from Amazon

Dear Forum Team

Help - Help - again !

I eventually got a new Virgin SIM to work in my recently bought Oakcastle mobile phone from Amazon by typing in the PUK of my SIM and that seemed to work fine for a week or so, but now, as soon as I switch my phone on, I am asked for a PUK again. I tried the previous PUK I had successfully used but to no avail.

I also tried the other new SIM that I had - also to no avail - this time after searching for a network, the phone message appeared:  'Register failed' and did not even ask me for a PUK.

Could you perhaps please send me yet another SIM (I've had two already) please?

My Virgin Mobile phone number is [removed]

Thank you.

Best Wishes,

David [removed]

Re: New SIM for Oakcastle relatively new phone from Amazon

You kindly sent me yet another new Virgin SIM which arrived a few days ago.

However, I have tried the new SIM in my Oakcastle mobile phone (bought from Amazon for only about £18 - Virgin did kindly send me a cheques for £20 when I raised this problem before) and I start with the message 'Searching Networks' and then keep getting the message 'Register Failed'.

I've tried moving the SIM slightly in case that is the problem and tried this on quite a few successive days, but all to no avail.

Boo-Hoo....

Any thoughts on the matter?

I'm happy to pay for a cheap mobile phone that Virgin can guarantee will work with their SIM card.

Thank you.

Best Wishes,

David

I ideally I would want to try the SIM in another phone.

Do you have an online account to check it has been activated? There is a button to do that.

The Nokia 105 certainly works as I put a SIM in one for a pensioner.

Re: New SIM for Oakcastle relatively new phone from Amazon

Hi Enlli

Thanks for your reply.

I do have a Virgin account, but the latest Virgin SIM doesn't seem to work in the Oakcastle phone.

I'm happy to buy a Nokia 105 mobile and try that.

Will post on here once I've tried that.

Thank you.

Best Wishes,

David Lee

Re: New SIM for Oakcastle relatively new phone from Amazon

Dear Enlli (or anyone)

I bought a Nokia 105 online from Argos and it arrived this morning. I then charged it up of course.

I have tried inserting the SIM several times - all still to no avail. I had to break out the SIM into the smallest configuration to get it to fit, but that still does not seem to work, even though I slid the SIM up and down slightly to ensure all contacts were made.

I did manage to set the date and time though on the Nokia 105, but unfortunately the SIM is still not recognised.

Any thoughts?

Thanks much,

David

The SIM probably needs activating. Most were sent out in an unactivated state for security reasons.

Re: New SIM for Oakcastle relatively new phone from Amazon

Hi Enlli

Thanks for the quick reply.

But how do you activate it, bearing in mind I have no mobile phone at the moment. I do have a landline though but cannot find anything about activation in the letter that came with the SIM.

Cheers,

David
