Need to cancel old account

I recently upgraded to a new phone and fed up with a particular nuisance caller, opted to change to a whole new account, I want to cancel my old account (currently on a 30 day rolling contract) but with the call centres the way they are right now cannot get to talk to anyone to cancel it. Any suggestions please?
