Hello, I've been with Virgin Mobile for 2 years now and today I've noticed my mobile network showing as O2 UK instead of Virgin and I'm no longer getting a 5G connection, only 4G. Does anyone know what going on?

I had this when I was moved over to the O2 radio network on my S21+. A reboot fixed the display issue so the connection to the O2 network shows as 'Virgin'

Hi @rahmm460,

Welcome to our Community Forums and thanks for your post.

Apologies for any confusion caused by this- we are in the process of migrating all customers to O2 from Vodafone.

Have you checked the coverage checker for any issues?

Ok so when I started my contract you piggybacked off EE I was getting speeds on my 4G of around 30 mbs this dropped to around the 15 with vodaphone

02 has by far the worse signal in my area and I’m running at similar speeds to when I was last with them at 0.8mbs

The signal is awful and I haven’t heard anything at all about the change

I believe it’s happened as Vodaphone now shows in the available network search on my phone what’s going on?

Virgin Media and O2 became a joint company just over a year ago.

So as part of that as O2 have a physical radio network, Virgin Mobile SIMS are now being moved onto the O2 network rather than run on a third party radio network.

Thanks for the reply

lover the space of a year we have been moved across 3 networks with different coverage in my area

Why are VIrgin not giving customers any warning?

My apologies that you were not aware of the migration @Jordanparky. We are making customers aware of these changes as they roll out in the area. Please make sure all your contact details are up to date on your online account.

My contact details should be up to date I haven’t received anything

Thanks

Can you confirm if you received a new sim for the migration or did this just automatically happen? Do you have any coverage concerns?

The process happened automatically no new sim was sent

Coverage is a lot worse on the 02 network and the 4g struggles to load a track on Spotify it’s so slow
