MobiWire mobile phone

Virgin have supplied a Mobiwire mobile to replace one that didn't work after the SIM swap. The Plan is ADDICT which charges £2 for every 200Mb of data used. There is NO internet available where the phone is being used. Data and WiFi have been switched off but when we switch the phone on it costs £2 for tiny amounts of data in Kb. The Billing usage reads "Using the Internet". No explanation of what is using the internet. How is it doing this if Data and WiFi are switched off on the phone? We would like to send and receive messages on this phone and have no need for any internet at all. I would like the internet capability to be turned off and the excess charges which so far amount to £8 refunded. Hope you can help.

Re: MobiWire mobile phone

I cant help with the refund - not staff

To remove the internet connection:

On the handset press menu

Got to:   Settings press Ok

go to Connectivity press ok

go to Data accounts press ok

go to options press ok

go to add ps account press ok

Remove any data in ALL the field options as you scroll down

At the bottom of the page select save

Job done

to talk about the possible refunds you'll need to call in or text the support number

Re: MobiWire mobile phone

Thanks for the post JennB and welcome to our community.

Have you been through the above?

We wouldn't be able to refund the amount if this was being used from anything on the handset.

Thanks, Emily.

Re: MobiWire mobile phone

Thank you for your replies. It is not possible to use any data where the phone is being used. There is no internet access. The original question stated all data services were turned off on the handset and yet data was still being used and charged for. The Virgin Mobile chat help restarted after lockdown and they have stopped whatever was causing it. I forgot to ask for a refund but as long as the unfair charges have stopped am not worried about that. The question is finished thank you.
