Message Failure

I have recently received a replacement SIM card from virgin. I have replaced my old sim with the new one and can receive telephone calls  emails and use the web however;

I can not send or receive SMS messages or any texts messages. I have tried to update though "imessage" but I just get an activation error.

I have tried to phone virgin , but the recording just wants to send me a text link, which is not helpful as I am not receiving texts !!!

Help

Re: Message Failure

Hi DCott,

Thanks for your post and welcome to the community.

I'm really sorry that you've been having problems sending/receiving text messages since putting the replacement sim card in.

I'm hoping everything has been resolved since posting, but if not, can you please ensure that your time/date is set correctly on your handset.

Can you also try the following:

Go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage.

Go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off FaceTime.

Restart your device.

Turn iMessage and FaceTime back on.

Thanks

Melissa

Re: Message Failure

Sorry to hear this DCott and we're terribly sorry we've not been able to get to this sooner

Can you tell me if this is an issue with multiple different networks or with one particular number on a certain network?

Can you also please advise me what handset model you have?

Kindest regards,

David_Bn

Re: Message Failure

You could try this. Go to settings for both facetime and imessaging as detailed above. Check whether your number starts with +44 instead of 0. Is so, put in your number again replacing +44 with 0.

This has worked for others. Hope it does for you.
