Invalid sim card

Received a second new SIM card for the upgrade to service, but message shows INVALID SIM CARD. Unable to speak to customer services after 30 minutes hanging on.  Can anyone suggest a way to sort this out please?  The phone is an ALBA Flip Top mobile that is for my husband who only uses it for emergencies. No Virgin stores where I live so no- one can show me what to do. Any help will be welcomed.

I'm sorry to hear you're having some issues with the new SIM, 

 

Can I ask if the handset you're using was from us or was it bought somewhere else?
