My internet mobile data has been so slow.. using virgin mobile under vodaphone never had an issue. Now since using o2 internet data extremly slow. Absolutly frustrating!!

I am with o2 proper for mobile, the signal is terrible in Bham, 5g is fine, but once its 4g I get < 1MB speeds to the point apps are saying no internet connection on full signal, I have to knock it down to 3g to get some decent speeds even then its slightly better.
There is apparently a mast down but its been down for 3 months with no end in sight, I have put in a request for early termination of the contract with no exits (after a little bit of fighting)
Glad to be rid.... but I will miss the Volt benefits...
This issue looks to be widespread... I think the whole network is oversubscribed and the only way to resolve this is to make 5g more common in areas... get out if you can.

Yes, sadly 4G is oversubscribed in many areas. This is partly due to O2 using 800Mhz in the main. for 4G which gave them a quicker roll out but lacked bandwidth. It is also due to so many people being on O2. Three million Virgin customers added to the subscriber figures has not helped.

Sadly, unless you can get them to release you penalty free, it will cost.

5G is not the only fix to congestion & oversubscription.
You can add 4G spectrum just as well as adding 5G carriers.
All within the network's holdings and site-specific configs.
