Huawei P40 & Google

Virgin are offering a deal of P40 plus G2 watch but I read that Google services will not work and no app store apart from Hauwei's own. I also read that Petal Search from Hauwei will fill the gap. Not sure about this.

Anyone have experience of this I would like your feedback please.

Thanks

Tony

Re: Huawei P40 & Google

GSMArena has a full review of the phone, including a detailed report on the lack of Google Play and the workarounds such as installing apps from the Amazon AppStore.

There's also an article featuring which apps will and won't work

There's also a link to download AppGallery on your current phone to see the app selection and gauge the general user experience.

Re: Huawei P40 & Google

I have just recently got the P40 lite 5G on contract upgrade. There are numerous ways to get google services on Huawei devices but it involves a few file downloads and some patience. In the end none of them work on the P40 lite 5G and also on some of the other P40 range. Huawei's own app gallery is useless as it doesn't have any apps and petal search is just that, a search engine. APKPURE is the app store to use but you still won't get google services on your device. Best to have a look on YouTube for "how to get google services on Huawei P40"

Re: Huawei P40 & Google

Not so worried at the moment as Virgin have no stock despite big advertising campaign and they really are rubbish at contacting them to get a straight answer as to when they will get stock back in. Been online chat today for an hour and finally told they were marked as BO (Back Order). I knew that!!! All I wanted to know was when they expect stock, hopeless, just hopeless.
