I've had similar problems.
Judging by comments and issues on this forum, and on Twitter, Virgin Mobile have more or less withdrawn support for their mobile phone customers, leaving us all high and dry. Calling 789 is useless - there's no-one there - every option in their computerised call handling system ends up offering to text you a link to the help pages on their website, which you've probably read already! This leaves one with the impression that they simply regard their customers as an inconvenience they'd prefer not to deal with.
