I eventually managed to get hold of Customer Service, using WeQ4U to avoid having that awful music piped into my ear (why do call centres try to pretend that they are music stations and that they know which, if any, music I want to listen to?). The service representative fixed it, thankfully.
Still, this is something that Virgin needs to fix, because by continuing to send texts after opting out as per their own instructions, they're breaking the law. I know that it's not deliberate — some error in their system, no doubt, possibly exacerbated by the current crisis — but it should be fixed.
