Emergency calls only.

OK, last Sunday, sim card stopped working on my phone, stating emergency calls only.

Since then, I have spoke to customer service, had my account refreshed to no avail and a new SIM card ordered.

New sim card has not worked with phone still showing emergency calls only.

I have tried my virgin sim in another phone, again emergency calls only.

Using a Vodafone sim in my phone, (which shows emergency calls only with Virgin SIM), this sim worked immediately and I could make a call.

Help, advice required.

Dave

Re: Emergency calls only.

Anybody with any thoughts. I accept its only a few hours since I initially posted but I have been without the ability to make calls since Sunday.

Thanks

Re: Emergency calls only.

Check that there isn't ongoing problems/maintenance in your area.

Virgin use EE for service (for now anyway)

Re: Emergency calls only.

Are you a pay monthly customer or pay as you go?
Ensure the direct debit has been paid or that there’s money been added to the account if PaYG.

Re: Emergency calls only.

May be as simple as the new SIM needs activating by Virgin.

Re: Emergency calls only.

No issues there. Account payments up to date as pay monthly.

All help related suggestions have been excercised.

My phone happily makes calls with another network provider.

Re: Emergency calls only.

On receipt of new sim card, virgin letter stated no activation would be required.

Re: Emergency calls only.

Usually you’ll receive that error when there’s no activated sim installed.

Is there any option to reset the SIM card?

Re: Emergency calls only.

Check this:
https://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/content/en-us00410712/
https://appuals.com/fix-android-emergency-calls-only-and-no-service/ ignore the fix which requires rooting the device.

Does the phone have dual sim slots? If so try using the sim in the other slot.
Do you have wifi calling enabled? If so can you make a call while on wifi?
