Data usage without permission, usually on the hour.

Data is taken without permission usually every hour meaning the bill is a lot higher. Customer service could not help.

Have I been hacked? If Virgin won't help does this mean cancelling the account and number?

that will be down to your phone.
Find out what app/service is using the data and stop it
