My Dad who is 84 was sent a new phone because his old one could not use the purple sim he was sent.
I set up the phone for him, checked his balance of £17 had been transfered.He only uses it for calls and texts.
Approx 2 wks later he tells me all his credit is gone and he did not remember calling or texting on it(phone is for emergencies)
Upon checking I realise the phone uses data in the background, it used over that time 45mb and he got charged £17 way to go Virgin!
Data has now been turned off.
There must be many people sent these phones, just a warning to turn the data off or all your credit will be eaten up very fast on a Payg tariff.
Lucky he did not have an emergency!!!
