Data Speeds Terrible

Just switched to Virgin Mobile recently. Can someone from Virgin explain how these speed tests qualify as “super fast 4g”. Taken on an iPhone. Not impressed.

Who did you switch to O2 from? I mention O2 as that's who supplies Virgin's Mobile service these days.

I moved from Three.

Are speeds poor in just one specific area, or across-the-board? Are you using the same phone, or did you get a new one?

Things will always vary on a localised basis, but on a broad basis O2 tends to appear at the bottom end of performance reports. Three generally do rate higher.

I’ve only put the new sim in today and tried the speed tests at home. I think I was expecting better results than these to be honest. Will see what speeds I get when I travel around a bit.

Using the same phone as well.

Hi Dobbor11,

Thanks for Posting this on our forums and welcome to Virgin Mobile!

I am sorry you're a little underwhelmed with the speeds of your data, I'm afraid there is nothing we can do to increase this unfortunately unless it's due to a faulty SIM - Which doesn't seem likely at this point.

If you've only just Switched over from Three, you have 14 days from Switching over to cancel if you are really unhappy about this.

Thanks,

Megan_L

I'd be interested to know what speeds other customers are getting around the UK specifically in the North West.  Maybe it's just where I live in Warrington.

Hello Dobbor11.

It's tricky to say what speeds are like elsewhere as we need am active phone to test.

I am with O2, last year it was pretty consistent from Manchester to North Wales....

Might be worth checking here for coverage and speeds.

This is at home in Liverpool tonight. Since they have done work on the mast download has improved but look at the upload and latency. Unusable

Report it using their My Network App on a daily basis.

In some areas I have seen figures like yours on many an occasion

Thankfully I'm not paying for the SIM
