Couple questions firstly, Virgin Mobile...

Good Morning

Due to my work/Self employed, always had issues with my phones disappearing or breaking(Which is why i never buy expensive ones lol) for 11 years been with Ee and never had issues with signal or account ever, but recently theyve changed whole plan and number which is so frustrating as its advertits costing me a lot more, ive alwayzs just used a personal(Non Business) sim contract, but now i do need to change to a Businss account whether its sim contract or pay as you go, as long as i get a half decent signal, no extra charges or the 'App' constantly/Weekly deleting my log in information etc, especially wjhen  your tryoing to add extra and even tho you know its the business bank account so itsa not empty..they rejected my card 4 times in 4 hours i had to change payment details and i got charged 3 times...o question being Virgin mobile, is it any good/reliable? Either personal or business? Price wise...or do you think i just keep getting quotes?Really appreciate any advice..got diagnosed with Addisons Disease 5 months ago so i NEED  reliable mobile for not just work but emergency calls to the paramedic services and Nhs emergency, got a house/landline but..you know itll get resolved...im praying lol, thank you and enjoy the bank holiday weekend x

Re: Couple questions firstly, Virgin Mobile...

Honest opinion. Stay clear of Virgin Mobile. There are a number of reasons but mainly because they are a Virtual Network using someone else's signal.

For years they ran on EE but this year switched to Vodafone. This has caused problems for people who work in areas of poor Vodafone coverage where previously EE was adequate. Add to this, the joining of Virgin with O2 means another change coming up in the future. Not exactly the stability you need.

I always advise people in your situation to stick with one of the big 4 directly. EE, O2, Vodafone and Three.

Check which one has best coverage for you. Also check how much data you need.  Most people have, and are paying for, data they will probably never need.

All the big 4 have business divisions. You may pay a bit more but as business you can offset some of that against tax.

Re: Couple questions firstly, Virgin Mobile...

Add to this that in Ofcom most recent complaints data, Virgin Mobile have four times as many customers (pro-rata) complain to Ofcom as do EE, although the actual number of mobile customers needing to complain (even to VM) is relatively low

In theory mobile number portability means you should always be able to swap provider with almost no inconvenience so long as you avoid fixed term contracts - consider paying a bit more for a rolling monthly SIM only plan.

Match @enlli 's observations, my comments, look at any deals Virgin Mobile can offer (avoiding fixed term offers), does that make Virgin Mobile a credible contender?

Re: Couple questions firstly, Virgin Mobile...

Hi joeana3796,

Thank you for reaching out to us here on the Community.

Of course we would love to have you with us but due to the need for the mobile phone we would recommend always checking the coverage in your area prior to signing up. Not just for ourselves but for any provider.

You can check the coverage in your area here

If you are already a Virgin Media customer, you may also benefit from the VOLT package where a SIM only deal would be taken from O2. More information on this can be found here.

Please let us know if you have any further questions 🙂

Thanks

Re: Couple questions firstly, Virgin Mobile...

As reported above, Virgin Mobile has the most complaints pro rata of any pay monthy mobile service.  Four times as many complaints as Tesco, Sky and EE.  And twice as many as BT and O2.
