Can't receive texts or calls since switching my sim

I switched my sim so I can have access to wifi calling but now I can't receive texts or calls at all and I'm not sure if wifi calling is even enabled - often making calls doesn't work if I don't have signa...

I can't get hold of anyone for help because the helplines are backed up and the live chat is through text so I can't receive the messages

iphone 6s. Have just checked and wifi calling definitely not working as I now don't have signal but still have wifi.

Hi Crbrown,

perhaps the new sim needs the Virgin settings adding again.

You can do that from this link Virgin Mobile Settings 

The quick way to do it using Chrome on a computer:-

In the list of phones click Apple

On the screen that opens hold the Ctrl key and press F

a small search box will open in the top right of the screen  - type in 6S

The page will scroll and the 6S will be highlighted, just click on the phone icon

Then there will be 3 links

Setup Virgin Mobile 

Setup Picture Messaging 

and Setup Email 

Click each one in turn and follow the instructions.

After that open the Settings app and go to Phone > Wi-Fi Calling. Tap the slider so it turns green.

ios is already updated and other settings for phone, SMS and wifi calling were already set up but still not able to receive calls or texts or use wifi calling

Going back to the beginning you said you switched your SIM to get WiFi calling. I perfumed this was from the older Red SIM on Virgin, was it on a different network by any chance?

It was an older virgin sim, I was sent a new one because they needed to give a new sim to enable wifi calling. I've now contacted someone via text service from another phone and it turns out you can't receive calls or texts for 24-48 hours when you switch sims. I'm now locked out of my phone after restoring because I can't receive the verification code by text and the sim won't start working after the 24-48 hours because it's not in a working phone. Both apple and virgin are claiming there is nothing they can do

Dear,

I switched from Freedom to Fido and then Virgin because of the same issue like you. Recently I cannot receive any verification code from plenty of apps, especially my bank CIBC. I am sure that restarting phone and network or calling support couldn't do anything. I was very frustrated until I decided to back up my account (IOS) and reset everything again. Luckily, it works now! 🙂
