Can't make or receive calls

I can't make or receive phone calls. The same for my partner who is also a Virgin Mobile customer. Having got past the chat bot, a 'human' informed me that there is work being done to the mast in my area. I didn't receive any notification that I would lose service continuity nor could the assistant provide me with an approximate date for reconnection. How is it possible to disconnect customers without advance warning, for example, sending a text alert - you have our mobile numbers, it shouldn't be difficult! Shall I temporarily disconnect my direct debit and pick an arbitrary date in the future when I will reconnect and give you payment? You'd be quick to get in contact then.

Shamefully inadequate service.

As Virgin piggy back on EE they get no warning from that company re maintenance etc. Nor do EE customers unless they are registered for updates in their locality.
