Can’t access website: SSL error

Hi,

When connected to 4g, I can’t access https://www.globalplayer.com/ which is a website to listen to live radio like Heart, Capital FM, classic FM. I get an error which says

”could not establish a secure connection to the server”

Same thing happens in chrome:

This site can’t provide a secure connection

www.globalplayer.com sent an invalid response.

ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR”

Other Websites work fine on 4g and I have no problems accessing globalplayer.com when connected to WiFi.

I’m using iPhone SE iOS 13.7

Re: Can’t access website: SSL error

Hi Morris3,

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.

Really sorry you've been having this issue and for the delay in responding.

Is this still an issue?

If so can I ask if you're able to update the phones software to iOS 14 and see if this resolves it?

Re: Can’t access website: SSL error

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I’ve just updated to iOS 14 but unfortunately I still can’t access the website. It’s the same error.

Thanks,

Re: Can’t access website: SSL error

Thanks for that.

Can you just confirm that the time zone is correct on your iPhone? If your time zone is incorrect or behind then it can trigger this error message.

Hi,

Thanks, yes the time is set correctly as above. I should also add I switched to virgin from three about 2 weeks ago. Was working fine on the old network.

Re: Can’t access website: SSL error

Hey Morris3

Would you be able to clear your browsing history on the one that you're using to open this site?

If the above doesn't work, please try to reset your phones network settings, you can do this by going to  General>Reset>Network Settings, please be careful not to reset your handset.

Regards

Steven_L

Re: Can’t access website: SSL error

Hi,

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the late reply.
I have deleted all Safari history, cookies, and I assume cache. I have also reset network settings.

 Unfortunately the issue persists.

 Thanks,

Re: Can’t access website: SSL error

Hi Morris3,

Thanks for replying, how has the connection been since your post? If the issue is still occurring, do you know if you try another browser if the issue still persists?

Cheers,

Corey C

Re: Can’t access website: SSL error

Hi,

thanks for your suggestion. I downloaded MS edge browser for iOS. Now, depending on if I include https:// I either get the same error (SSL error) or a Virgin media blocked content page.

Could this website be unblocked as it is clearly not an adult website?

Thanks,

Re: Can’t access website: SSL error

Hi Morris3,

I've checked that site using Virgin Mobile data and WiFi and it works. I've also tested it on an iPhone using the latest version and it works also. Can you confirm whether you're having problems with Safari on your iPhone and can you try a different browser on your iPhone to see if it's the same? When you said you've tried Edge, is that on your iPhone?  If you can get on it via a different browser, it may be an issue with Safari itself. Please go to Settings - Safari - and check the settings such as Cookies and any content blockers to see if it helps.

Thanks,

Lisa
