Activating a SIM abroad

Hi, I am looking to open a SIM only account with Virgin, off the back of the 'roam like home' policy- as I am currently living in the Netherlands for the next few months.

However, I would like to know whether it is possible for me to activate a new SIM card abroad- or whether I need someone to do it for me.

If someone were to do it for me, would I still be able to 'set up' the SIM and transfer my old (current) number across?

Many thanks

It is not possible to activate a SIM abroad. It must be one the Home network

Also numbers transferred by PAC code require both SIM cards to be in the UK.

As to roaming the card would need to be used in the UK first as under the T&C it needs to be used more in the UK that abroad in a 6 month period

Hi @GraceMcGuigan

Welcome to the community forums.

Thanks for getting in touch. As @enlli has very kindly and rightly advised. You would need to activate the SIM in the UK and any PAC requests must also be done in the UK. Please let us know if you are having any further questions at all. We'll be here to help on the community forums if needed 🙂
