APN settings for Oneplus 7t

Hello. I've arrived back at Virgin mobile after a few successful years at Plusnet. I ported my number to virgin but have a problem:-
The standard apn settings set up do not work with my Oneplus 7t. I had no data connection and limited sms availability - texts would either fail when and incoming ones were taking up to 12 hrs to arrive.

I searched around the internet and used the apn found here:-
https://apn-uk.gishan.net/en/apn/virgin/oneplus-7t

Everything seemed to work today but the texting errors started again this afternoon. I've tried re-booting the phone and re-inserting the sim but no luck.

Just wondering if anyone has some different apn settings for Oneplus phones (preferably the 7t)?

My wife is on Virgin Mobile and has no problems. (Maybe copy her APN settings on a Huawei Mate 10, seems a long shot?

If I can't get it fixed I'll have to leave soon.

 Alex

Hi @alfienoakes63

Are you actually based in Ireland as the settings you have shown are for t-mobile. They should either be for virgin mobile or O2

There is settings info in the VM UK settings page for the /Oppo/A16s  (The same settings are used for all Oppo mobiles, and Oppo make the OnePlus mobiles)

Before entering them manually try to have the virgin mobile APN settings sent to your device, by texting “ALL” to 789922.

If your mobile is using the O2 network then follow the instructions on the following page

https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Android/Connecting-Android-Phone-to-Data-Services/

Thanks for your post. No, I'm in England. I'll have a look at your suggestion later this evening, I'm pretty sure I have tried those settings already but I'll have another go. Alex

Tried those settings. It's exactly the same - internet works occasionally (shows exclamation mark on the signal icon). Texting works for a bit then won't send or receive. Sometimes works for a while after a re-start then fails for again. No word from Oneplus.

Thank you for trying.

Those settings should be working for you.

I appreciate you have attempted to reach the manufacturer of the handset but are still waiting on a response via email. If possible, it may be quicker to give them a call.

Please do let us know how you get on.

Thanks,

Nat

Hello, me again, so I tried the sim in an old motorola phone I'd forgotton I had. It wouldn't accept the goto.virginmobile.uk APN - just refused to save it. Texting ALL to 789922 did nothing. It did accept an APN with just the Name as Virgin Media and the APN as Internet. All other fields blank or default and this worked for texting and Internet.

Couldn't get through to Oneplus on phone but did have an on screen "Chat" with them. Here is a summary:-

Me - "I have a oneplus 7t and have just joined virgin mobile. Having problems keeping a good data connection - I keep getting an exclamation mark on the network icon. Txts work sometimes then stop. Same with the internet. Virgin say nothing wrong with the apn they have supplied. I tried the sim in an old Moto G I have and it works. Any particular settings I need for Oneplus 7t on Virgin UK?"

OP - "I am sorry but we are not supporting Virgin mobile network"

Me - "Virgin uses O2, so are you not supporting them either? Which network should I use then?"

OP - "I am sorry but we are not supporting their services, you can Use O2, EE, Vodafone"

Me - "Bit confused - Virgin uses the O2 network. Virgin are transfering their accounts to O2 - so will it work when that happens? When you say not supporting do you mean Oneplus phones don't work on Virgin?"

OP - "I mean that OnePlus phones don't work with Virgin services, not with the technology"

Me - "I don't really understand the difference between Services and Technology"

OP - "I am sorry but I am not able to assist you in this matter, you will need to change the provider in order to use the device."

Bit surprised really, looks like I'll be moving again.

Hi @alfienoakes63 👋.

Thanks for getting back in touch with us. Have you looked at this link regarding the migration from Virgin to O2 👉 https://www.virginmedia.com/help/mobile/your-move-to-o2. Can we ask did you get the handset from Virgin and does the issue happen in all locations?

There are some handsets that are not compatible with Virgin/O2, this may of caused a complication from the migration, we would advise to reach out to O2 with this.

Hope this helps.

Sabrina

Thanks for reply. The link doesn't work. I will get in touch with O2.
