APN settings for Oneplus 7t

Hello. I've arrived back at Virgin mobile after a few successful years at Plusnet. I ported my number to virgin but have a problem:-
The standard apn settings set up do not work with my Oneplus 7t. I had no data connection and limited sms availability - texts would either fail when and incoming ones were taking up to 12 hrs to arrive.

I searched around the internet and used the apn found here:-
https://apn-uk.gishan.net/en/apn/virgin/oneplus-7t

Everything seemed to work today but the texting errors started again this afternoon. I've tried re-booting the phone and re-inserting the sim but no luck.

Just wondering if anyone has some different apn settings for Oneplus phones (preferably the 7t)?

My wife is on Virgin Mobile and has no problems. (Maybe copy her APN settings on a Huawei Mate 10, seems a long shot?

If I can't get it fixed I'll have to leave soon.

I split the apn into two but it hasn't made any difference. At one point I sent 5 texts to myself - 2 of them came through but the 3 failed. Internet coming and going.

I'm not sure I can do much more, do you have any ideas? Maybe re-set the connection from your end if that is a thing. Otherwise I'll be asking for my PAC and moving back to EE or one the companies that uses EE's network.

Good Evening @alfienoakes63, can you please confirm if you've been able to use the sim card in an alternative handset to see if this issue remains with the sim, or if it is indeed related to the phone you're using?

Kindest regards,

No, I don't have another phone I can try. I'm certainly not mucking my wife's phone up.

Thanks for coming back to us @alfienoakes63.

If you're able to attempt the sim card in your wife's phone, it will determine if there are any issues with the sim card.

Alternatively, it may be worth reaching out to the manufacturer to see if they have any further diagnostics that can be ran with the device.

Kindest regards,

I'm sure Oneplus would say it's a network/sim issue, I'm not prepared to go down that rabbit hole. I understand what you say re. my wifes phone, i'm just not prepared to go there. Is there anything else at your end that can be done? Or, maybe send a replacement sim card?

We would need a customer to run diagnostics in full before a new sim card would be issued to you @alfienoakes63.

Please advise the manufacturer of the issue and see if they have any further advice to offer you.

Once this has been completed, feel free to come back to us and advise what they have reported back to you.

Kindest regards,

David_Bn

Update: No reponse from Oneplus

But, I found this site https://apn.how/ireland/virgin-media/oneplus/1665026427-7

and used the apn listed there:-

This was much more stable and everything was working 80% of the time. I then re-moved the sim card and gave it a bit of a clean and now it seems to be working all the time, both texting and internet while on data. So, maybe it is a combination of that virtually blank apn and possibly removing a bit of dust from the sim card or sim tray. If I revert to the default settings used earlier it doesn't work but using this virtually blank apn it does. I hope this helps others.

I think I might have spoken too soon, it's still failing every now and again.

Hi @alfienoakes63

Thanks for your response

Have you managed to contact the manufacturer? What has been advised exactly - if you've not contacted yet please do so and keep us updated
