Why can't I connect to 4g in the evening when in Spain?
I have zero connection every day after around 6 pm.
Contact Virgin Mobile, get standard answers.
Yes I have rebooted phone.
Yes I have checked settings.
I have 2 phones, both the same problem.
I also have an ee phone...world perfectly.
Give me a reason to not cancel?
No answer from Virgin.
They can keep their broadband, Tv and mobile service.
Using Covid as an excuse to fob you off.
Wait an hour for a non technical person to give you a hymn sheet answer.
Been with them for 30 years...no more.
Thanks for posting.
Apologies that you're having issues with your mobile data after 6pm in Spain.
Can you please run a manual network search on the handsets, connect to the network again and then reboot the handset?
Are you able to connect if you change the handset to 3G only?
Thanks for your response.
A manual search only brings up the Orange network.
I have 2 phones and both have same problem.
But my EE dongle is perfect.
Switching to 3g works fine, but data speed is very poor.
Thanks for confirming.
Are you connected to the orange network? If anymore networks do appear please try connecting to them as it may make a difference.
There could be many reason for this, sadly there's not too much we can do from here. This is because you are using a foreign network, which we have no access or control over.
Can you confirm whether you're in a busy area? It might be that there is high usage at peak times causing traffic on the network. The more people using the same network the slower it becomes.
You've mentioned you also have an EE dongle, do you have any control over which network that connects too? If it's not on the same one, then that would be why it's working unlike your phones.
Could you also confirm what handset you have please?
Look forward to hearing from you,
Trouble is you can't compare EE roaming to Virgin any longer.
EE control their own roaming whilst Virgin use Proximus of Belgium, so any problems are more down to Proximus than Virgin

I have 2 phones, both Pixel 2 XL, on Virgin Mobile.
One has unlimited data, the other has 2GB data.
I also have an EE dongle.
Connecting them all to Movistar, which is the strongest 4g network, I get the following download speed results.
Time 5 pm
pixel 2 unlimited data 5 mbps
Pixel 2 2 gb GB data 20 Mbps
EE dongle 38 Mbps.
Swapping the unlimited data sim to the other Pixel 2 phone and the Dongle gives basically the same results.
To be honest having unlimited data at such poor d/l speeds is a waste of time.
Also I notice that as I get towards the latter part of the month, the d/l speeds get progressively worse. It seems there is some form of traffic management taking place.
On my return to the UK, I will look at moving away from Virgin all together.
Customer service is very poor and rarely resolve any issues. People reading from scripts is not customer service.
