Good evening everyone

I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 with two sims.

For the last few months, I am having some weird delays when receiving SMSs.

Quite often the delay is something like 12 to 24 hours.

Obviously a problem when.

Any idea what might be the cause?

I had no problems initially...

Hi EricM1, welcome back to the community! Thank you for posting to let us know about these issues with your SMS service. 

Just a few questions to help us identify the issue:

-Are you in the UK or Abroad at the moment?

-Does this seem to happen on any specific dates or at specific times?

-Does this happen with messages from any particular numbers or all numbers?

-Have you noticed any signal issues?

-If you remove one of the SIMs does the issue still persist?

If you can let us know this additional information we will offer further support!

I am in the UK. Initially, I noticed it in France and thought it might be because of roaming but it's the same here

I have not noticed any date pattern. It always happen when I use some services (payment confirmation, etc)

-Does this happen with messages from any particular numbers or all numbers?

I "think" it happens with anything asking for some kind of confirmation.
I don't use SMS much otherwise so not quite sure. I'll runa  few tests with family phones...

Nope

Did not think of trying this. Will try


Another thing... I checked "Email me when someone replies" but did not get an email for your answer...
Is there something else I should do?

@EricM1 - nothing else you should do - don't worry. 

I think this issue can happen when both SIMs are in the phone - but obviously you could provide a better answer to that. Please keep us posted on how you get on.

The problem was initially easy to reproduce by sending an SMS to both SIMs from another phone.

I have no beginning of explanation... but switching both SIMs just made the trick.

I do remember one that I had a replacement SIM a couple of months ago and I had inadvertently swapped them.

Never mind. No idea why but it works

Damn... 

Does not work again

I thought it was fixed because I had managed to send myself SMS that appeared immediately.

Today, I applied for confirmation on some french web site using my UK phone number and have not got it yet (about an hour now).

I just triewd to send myself another SMS from a UK number and... I don't receive it either.

I suppose I'll receive both some time tomorrow.

This is quite frustrating...

Not or slow receiving confirmation SMS (especially One Time Pascodes) has become a Virgin feature over the past 2+ years

This is relatively new to me. 

Only spotted this a couple of months ago...

I still had not received the SMSs almost 24 hours later...So I rebooted my phone...

And then received all these SMSs in succession.

Then I tried to send myself an SMS... and again... Nothing!
