What to do with old Tivo box

David_J_R
Tuning in

I've just received a 360 box as a replacement for a Tivo box.
The Tivo is model CT8620 made '09102011'.
There was a leaflet with the 360 box saying go to www.virginmedia.com/recyclekit for instructions on what to do with the Tivo box. But that is a dead link.
What should I do with the old Tivo box?

Virginmedia are required by law to collect and recycle used electronic equipment.  You can request post-paid packaging here:

TiVo's are replaced with V6 (which still runs TiVo-software) unless you specifically requested to convert to TV360, or accepted an invitation to do so.

Regardless, TiVo's can be responsibly recycled - VM don't generally want them back.

Thanks, mine's the original Tivo box, not the V6. VM sent an invitation to convert the old Tivo to a new 360 free of charge, which I accepted.

Thanks, that was my expectation. IMV it's business WEEE, not domestic WEEE, as it's VM's property. And VM have an obligation to provide a take back service and it shouldn't go into the domestic waste stream.

Perfect, will follow advice to return my old TiVo box
