My tivo box works fine on live TV but all recordings (things on series link or just paused or rewound) are pixelated and jump, essentially rendering anything unwatchable. From reading forums, this seems to be a hard drive issue. Can replacement drives or boxes simply be sent for self repair or do I need to call the support team?
cheers

It depends on the issue usually a tech would have to come out and diagnose the fault and some occasions they would send out a new box it’s the luck of the draw you would have to contact customers if you have a TiVo 500 you will be sent out a new box as the TiVo 500 has been discontinued

There is no concept of self-repair with VM - if you report a service fault with your TiVo a tech will be sent, and they will replace the box if deemed necessary. You can report faults either by calling in, or waiting on here if you don't mind a couple of days delay.
TiVo's are also now replaced with V6 boxes providing you have VM home broadband. Same software on a much newer and quicker box.

Hello sfarkas
Sorry to hear of the problems when watching recordings, we understand the frustration this is causing and appreciate you taking the time to raise this via the forums. Welcome to the community.
Is this with all recordings? Has this worked previously but the pixilation has happened recently? If you pause live tv do you get the issue when resuming?
