Tivo box not responding to remote controls

Since this morning I have been unable to operate my Tivo box using my remote control.

I have changed the batteries and tried rebooting the system. The remote from my downstairs set works perfectly fine on my upstairs set but neither remote is working on the downstairs set.

I've even tried using the Virgin TV remote app and it's not responding to that either - it gives me an error message "The selected Virgin TV box was not found on the current network. Make sure you are connected to the same network as your Virgin TV box, then try again." Sorry, no idea what this means or what I need to do to try and fix it.

Any ideas?
