Hi guys, my TiVo box constantly makes a loud noise even when its on standby. I can sometimes hear it when my TV is on and even at night time during the night
Ive restarted it, but sane thing occurs.
Will the box need replacing?
Are you sure it's not the hard drive running with recordings and/or EPG updates (roughly 6hourly)?
Is it just the sound of the HDD spinning - or is it a "failing" drive?

I'm not too sure if I'm honest. I wasnt aware it updates every 6 hours mind. Although continuous noise during the night for a few hours doesn't seem normal.
I'm going to unplug everything. Check all connections again and see if that works but it doesnt sound great whatever it is
If nothing's set to record overnight, then I'd agree the HDD should spin down a large portion of the night.
Are you getting any other symptoms of HDD issues - for example, problems with recordings or pausing/rewinding live TV?
Ive had one or two problems with recordings but not so much lately.
I did unplug and check connections. Tightened up one or two and it seemed a lot quieter.
Will keep an eye and ear on it to see if it gets loud again.
Hi there @Coops04
Welcome to the community and thank you for your post. Apologies for the delay in response and to hear about the sounds coming from the TiVo box.
How has it been since? Is the box out in the open and not overheating?
