Re: Tivo Box Upgrade

Great info. Bizarrely that V6 swap page is still up and you can still complete the form and book for a V6 box to be sent. Why haven't they taken this down I wonder if the offer ended in 2020??!!

Nope, you've lost me completely!

Are you an existing TiVo box user wanting to upgrade to a V6?

Yes, exactly that. The Tivo box has been in the loft for the past year or two as it was so terrible to use, and as we have an aerial we didn't need it for live TV (which was all we were using it for). The aerial cable now needs replacing after some renovations so we got the box back down to avoid putting a new cable in. It works "fine" but is still terrible; awful UX, slow, remote looks like it was designed by Homer Simpson etc.

Do you have VM broadband? I ask because that's a requirement for both the V6 & TV360 boxes.

V6 runs TiVo-software but on a much newer, faster box

TV360 is fundamentally different software but uses the same box.

Yes I have 1gig broadband, landline (lol) etc. Been a customer for about a thousand years. The v6 would seem to fulfill what I need vs. the 360, especially given some of the feedback. I won't be using recording features or anything, just want a quick way to watch live TV and have a backup for other devices I have for streaming.

I'm surprised that the box didn't get automatically deactivated from not having been connect for such a long time

Me too. Did a couple of reboots and the guide took a while to appear but all good now, as good as a geriatric Tivo box can be now.

Thanks Ayisha. I am not looking to upgrade my package, but I need a smaller box as the Tivo won't fit the new furniture where my TV lives. Is this an option?

Hi @caverncaperer

The Tivo's are no longer sent out to new  customers, they are sent a 360.

Even faulty Tivo's are not being replaced, they are now swapped out for V6 boxes if the customer also takes a broadband package.

Even though you aren't looking to upgrade yuor package just now, it might be a good idea to negotiate a new deal and ask for a free box swap as part of the negotiations.
