Distorted rewind & recording

Can anyone help everything I record when played back is distorted sound & pictures also if I rewind a live program it is exactly the same

That's the trademark symptoms of a hard drive with problems. It can't be repaired, and you'll need a replacement box.

Call into 150 (from a VM phone), 0345 4541111 (from any other phone) or wait here (may be a couple of days for a response) to arrange the engineer visit.

I am sorry to hear you're having this issue and @japitts is correct, this does sound like a issue with the hard drive.
