Backup and Restore Tivo

I've seen various postings without conclusive solutions.

1. Can I use Tivo Desktop to Backup and then Restore to V6 (replacement) ?

2. Can I use Ethernet connection to copy from Tivo to V6 ?

If neither are possible. How can I get my programmes copied to V6 without paying to keep my Tivo until it is used up ?

It should be possible unless it's a deliberate act to prevent it.

Re: Backup and Restore Tivo

1. No
2. No

There is no feature to copy recordings across boxes. The STBs are designed to time-shift recordings, not create an archive you can keep or maintain if a box is removed or fails. This is in line with UK law.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/exceptions-to-copyright#time-shifting

Time-shifting
A recording of a broadcast can be made in domestic premises for private and domestic use to enable it to be viewed or listened to at a more convenient time.

The making of a recording of a broadcast for purposes other than to time-shift a programme for you or your family is likely to be illegal.

Re: Backup and Restore Tivo

Hello

I am afraid there is no way to copy recorded content on your Tivo to another device. all you can copy over is your planned recordings.

See https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-tv-copy-tv-box-settings-to-another-box for info of what can be copied.

Regards Mike
