Access media on home NAS via Virgin TiVo box?

I have a home media NAS with DLNA enabled - anyone know if I can access this media through the TiVo TV box? The box is ethernet wired into my router, as is the NAS. I have a Chromecast and can cast some content via VLC on my android device but some video requires on-the-fly transcoding, which isn't great as it stutters and buffers.

Virgin TiVOs are rented kit. They are only designed to work with Virgin Media's content, not your own. So the content on the box is locked to the box. The Ethernet connection is provided to link to other TiVO multiroom boxes on the same Virgin account & to mobile/tablet devices via Virgin's TV Control app. It does nothing else.
