The majority of the info is from

Tthe BBC is streaming the vast majority of its live matches in Ultra HD (4K), as part of their ongoing UHD experiment. The catch? These matches will be available in 4K only on BBC iPlayer (via broadband), and only on a strict list of support devices
The BBC will air 33 live matches on TV and iPlayer across the 28 days of the tournament, while BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds will provide coverage of all 64 matches in Qatar.
If you also want to watch with HDR, you need a TV that supports the HLG format, which is the one the BBC uses (and isn’t as popular as some of the other HDR formats).
You can find a full list of supported devices from the BBC website
You'll need to check model type in the settings on your VM set top box to see if it supports iPlayer in 4K

HLG is specifically designed to be used for live HDR transmissions, and any decent 4K TV these days should support it.
It's worth saying that all matches streamed by BBC iPlayer will also be broadcast on either BBC One or BBC Two in HD (which some people including myself will prefer).

Yeah I find there is a 2 minute lag with live sport streamed in 4k via iplayer. I might stick to the old aerial.

I've got England to go out on penalties at the opening ceremony...
