Upgrade from 2004 Windows 10 to the 20H2 Beta version

On my main PC, I now have upgraded to the 19042.421 version from the 2004 Windows 10 version, believed to be the Autumn update

There are no watermarks, so seems genuine, it took 15mins to upgrade on my fast PC, including download with no problems encountered so far.

Available to those insiders who are on the Slow ring for Beta releases.

More fun and games.  Maybe they dumped it early to sort out 2004...🙄

I heard the stories, but I never had any problems with 2004, except for the very long install time.

This New version is the first in a while that looks visibly different, the Icons are noticeably better.

Re: Upgrade from 2004 Windows 10 to the 20H2 Beta version

My windows 10 (home) netbook is still waiting for the May 2004 update!!! (whenever I check for updates, it states, 'coming soon' )

currently still on 1909....(yet my 2 pc's and 2 laptops (all on 10 pro) updated to 2004 in May.......)

Also, none of my machines have suffered any of the problems encountered by others since the 2004 update....lucky? or just a combination of all the right components??

Who knows??

Re: Upgrade from 2004 Windows 10 to the 20H2 Beta version

I have a Windows 10 Pro PC, upgraded today to build 19041.388, kicked it off and went out, thankfully no problem. I'd previously upgraded to the new Edge (it's now version 84.0.522.48), also without a problem.

Re: Upgrade from 2004 Windows 10 to the 20H2 Beta version

Well, it had to happen sometime I suppose.........

The netbook with 10 home, finally said that 'the update for windows 10 to 2004 was ready to download and install'

OK, I thought, done this 3-4 times already without so much as a single problem over the whole lot............

So, set it going and left it to get on with it.....some time later , (not too sure how long, as was busy with other things..) came back to see that the machine needed  to do a reset to finish the updates...

OK I thought, off you go then..

Errr...'working on updates' then shut down... re-started, 'working on updates'.....then..........BSOD. and nothing....

left it for an hour just in case it was doing anything, (no h/d lights or any signs of 'action' after 45 mins) so switched off...

left a while then switched on...'windows startup screen ok, then BSOD again, and freeze......

So, looks like a rebuild....(sigh!!)

Still, one failure out of 4-5 isn't too bad I suppose.....
