USB-C/thunderbolt dock ?

anyone use and/or recommend a USB-C/thunderbolt dock for my laptop?
it's a Dell XPS 9360 and has 2 x USB 3.1 and 1 x USB-C Thunderbolt 3.1.

i'd need the dock to be able to provide at least the following connections.

1 x gigabit ethernet
2 x HDMI (or equivalent but not VGA) connections for connecting 2 x 1080p monitors
and preferably it'd be able to power/charge my laptop too (which the laptop supports via thunderbolt providing it has enough power to do so).

Re: USB-C/thunderbolt dock ?

Not a personal recommendation but my neighbour bought this one last week so she could connect her Dell lappy by ethernet for more stable zoom connection as well as for other connections.

She told me yesterday it worked brilliantly as she hosted a 42 person multinational zoom meeting.

Re: USB-C/thunderbolt dock ?

yeah that's the thing about amazon these days, plenty of strange/bizarre brand names, and when you look a bit deeper they are all from china.

that one you posted is actually sold by "Business Name:shenzhengshixunfeidashujujishuyouxiangongsi"

amazon reviews are often not even about the item in question, as listings tend to switch product.

Re: USB-C/thunderbolt dock ?

yeah i did originally look at the dell unit.
what put me off was only 1 HDMI and 2 DP ports, meaning i'd need to replace at least one of my monitor cables or get DP-to-HDMI adaptor.

Re: USB-C/thunderbolt dock ?

I am pretty sure that whichever you buy will have been made in, and come from, China 🙂

Re: USB-C/thunderbolt dock ?

indeed, however there is a big difference to known company names with a track record, and company names with a long string of random letters with no track record.

also, you tend to find the exact same looking device being sold under 100 different "brand" names.
