TiVo Box as a router

I recently bought a blu-Ray player I thought connected to my broadband wirelessly. Turns out it needs to be connected by a cable to the router. This isn’t possible as the router is upstairs - but it does sit next to the downstairs TiVo box. If I plugged it to that, could the TiVo act as a router? Thanks in advance for help. P.

Re: TiVo Box as a router

not you can't do that.

i'd be surprised if any "decent" brand bluray player bought in the last couple of years didn't have WIFI built-in.

Re: TiVo Box as a router

Agree. This is a Panasonic and it has Netflix and iPlayer splashed all over the box, so I just assumed. I think I may have solved it though - I have a virgin booster which I’ve moved behind the TV cabinet. It has a lan socket so I’m hoping that will be the same as plugging it into the router itself. I just need to get a cable ...

Re: TiVo Box as a router

I’ve had to order a cable so won’t know until it arrives tomorrow - I’ll let you know how it turns out but fingers crossed!

Re: TiVo Box as a router

It works!

The cable arrived this morning, and I plugged the blu-ray player into the Virgin booster (which I relocated to the plug sockets behind the TV) and its treating the booster as if it is the router. Internet connection established!
