Static IP

Hi,

I have set up a home server and would like to access it remotely. Is it possible to obtain a static IP on domestic VM subscription?

Thanks

Re: Static IP

No. If it is of any help VM's IP addresses are very sticky but not static. They don't change often

Re: Static IP

you can setup a Dyndns address on your network to maintain access in the odd time it might change. But it may not change for years. I've had the same one for 5+ years most of the time and only changed when i changed router

Re: Static IP

just to add further, you could use something like opendns that can update your record if the rare chance your external IP address changes.
