Poor bitrate on wired TV app

Hi,

I'm getting a really dreadful bitrate on Netflix through my new TV's app, but where other devices seem fine.

I've been online to Netflix themselves multiple times and have been through all their troubleshooting steps to no avail and now they've just shrugged and told me to talk to my ISP, so I'm hoping someone here can help. 

Here's some more information:

  • The TV is a LG C9 OLED, with apps all updated.
  • It's on a wired connection directly to the router with 100mbps connection (on-TV test shows it's getting plenty enough).
  • I have the 4k sub with Netflix and the app is set to the highest video quality. 
  • The Netflix app on the V+ box seems to get decent bitrate, but jerky picture (hence why using Netflix on V+ isn't ideal. For example:
    • The Martian HD - 1.2mbps (TV) 2.05 (V+)
    • The Big Short HD - 0.95 (TV) 1.61 (V+)

The Big Short is like watching 00s YouTube in places the bit rate is so poor.

Any idea why the bit rate is suffering over my TV but not the V+ box? Is there some kind of setting that needs changing on the router, my account, or TV?

Just out of interest do you get the same issue if you connect over WiFi ?

Surely you still haven't got a V+? VM's been trying to get people to upgrade to a later box.

Sorry, I only took the contract out in January so it's actually a V6 box. I had a V+ for the longest time on a previous contract, so it's just muscle memory calling it that. 🙂
