Moving to VOIP May 2023

OK So our phone is moving to VOIP in May and I have a few questions ---

1 What codec is used for VM VOIP (will call quality be better)?

2 How may REN does the TEL1 support on hub 3 - I need to have a real bell and it it 1.5REN?

3 Will my 'number withheld'  feature carry over?

4 My router is in my office upstairs and my phone point (for 9 DECT phones) in the hall - who will do the additional wiring  - is it free?

5 Are the 'call progress' tones the same?

Try this spec sheet (for a similar base model to a Hub 3) in answer to some of your questions.

REN is 3 for a single line via the hub. If you are using a phone with a bell you may need to get an an adapter with a 'ringing capacitor' to replace the one VM provides.

VM should make modifications to your phone wiring free of charge as part of the switchover process.

VM's current calling features are here

https://www.virginmedia.com/help/landline/managing-your-landline-calling-features

Phone guide is below

https://assets.virginmedia.com/resources/pdf/Your-VM%20Phone-Guide.pdf

when you are connected via the VM hub your phone 'colour' zone becomes 'purple' AFAIK.

It has been mentioned on here in the past that, when you are 'switched', you are still connected to the same exchange equipment as before just the method of connection has changed and you continue to use an ordinary telephone for calls so as a customer you do not directly get to access any VOIP features on the new connection.
