Important information for people here who may be using Freeview (through an aerial) for additional TV sets around the house.
OFCOM has now decided that some of the present "gap" in the 700Mhz spectrum currently used for broadcast channels, must be given up to allow the expansion of 5G mobile networks.
As a result, the COM 8 mux will cease broadcasting as of 25 June 2020. The following channels WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE ON FREEVIEW:
Channel name Channel number
Channel 4+1 HD
The following channels will remain available following a retune until 25 June 2020. These will then move to the spare space on COM 7 on Freeview. Eventually COM 7 will also be lost (see note below). The channels (Excluding CBeebies HD) will move to the 780 - 899 range in your channel numbers:
NOTE: There may be further technical changes in the pipeline, such as moving SDN, COM5 & COM6 muxes to MPEG4 configuration, that will allow some of these channels to continue broadcasting by moving to these muxes when COM 7 closes. If this does happen anyone with older TVs & boxes that are not MPEG4 (DVB-T2) compatible will lose all except the PSB channels.
