I transferred a recent batch of digital photos from one of my Nikon DSLRs a few days ago and was half way through processing them on the computer when I noticed that the shoot date was showing as 01/01/2005. Let's do the time warp again!
It took a while for the penny to drop. The backup cell had failed and when I had taken the main battery out to recharge it, the settings had reverted to 'factory'. It came as quite a shock to realise just how long I've had that camera and my other four Nikon bodies ... how time flies.
I got a batch of CR1616 cells from ebay and I'm in the process this afternoon of replacing them all and reprogramming the cameras. Now I need to take an inventory of what other electronic devices I have that may be about to lose backup due to cell failure.
