I have just installed an Eero pro6e mesh system and turned my VM hub 4 into modem mode. Everything went perfectly well or so I thought. The WiFi all works well, everything has connected up with no apparent issues until I tried to send an email on either my iPad or iPhone. I can receive emails ok but not send them. I still use a virginmedia.com email address and I can still access the VM website directly on a laptop so the problem lies only with sending emails on my IOS devices. It doesn’t seem to be an IOS issue because I can log on to other SSID’s and then send via IOS as normal.
I can also use outlook either on IOS or laptop and I have the same sending problem so the issue appears to be my Eero wifi network having compatibility with third party email. Anyone had any similar issues or can offer any advice please?

Thanks for replying. I did email and actually speak to the Eero helpline who were absolutely superb. They tried numerous troubleshooting ideas over the phone culminating in a reinstall of the Eero system. When I did the original installation I followed the Eero instructions which was to set up the Eero first and then put the VM hub into modem mode. When they did it they asked me to put it into modem mode first and then we installed the Eero. Despite them telling me it shouldn’t have made any difference the upshot is that my email system is now both sending and receiving normally over WiFi whereas before I could not send. I believe from various forums that others have experienced a similar issue but mine is now resolved and Eero is functioning perfectly with significantly better speeds and coverage than with just the VM hub and extender pods which was decidedly patchy and not consistently reliable.

Moment mode can be tricky if you are not aware of the pitfalls. The Hub should be set to modem mode first and then powered off. The 3rd party router should be setup in Router mode with DHCP. Only then should the Hub be powered on. It’s all to do with the MAC address of the last known connected device.
