Cutting unused cable

Hi there - I've just been disconnected and have been left with about 3m of coaxial cable coming from the socket in the house.

Engineer used an old NTL socket and the cable appears to be hardwired into it.  Cable terminates in a male adaptor which will not take the termination cap I received in the post.

I'm keen to keep the socket as I will probably take another VM service in the future but can I cut this cable?  The room is being renovated soon and I don't want a 3m spool of cable in the corner!

Re: Cutting unused cable

Yes you can remove the cable but the socket should be terminated with a 75 ohm terminator cap. Ask VM to send you this.

Re: Cutting unused cable

Thanks for replying.  I have the small terminator cap so I'll remove the existing cable termination and try to make it fit.

Re: Cutting unused cable

So I unscrewed the NTL wallbox cover above the skirting board and found the actual VM port inside it, removed the cable and capped it off with the small thing I got in the post.  Hopefully ready for another connection in the future.  Thanks again
