Casual question about Hub 3

It's no biggie really but just wondered why on the hub 3 box a red light means
everything ok and green lights mean anything from no connection to trying to connect?

There has to be a reason it all deviated away from the standard traffic light system
green - go, amber - caution,  red - danger

Re: Casual question about Hub 3

It indicates the hub is overheating, is it well ventilated

Re: Casual question about Hub 3

Red light showing on the Hub3 in router mode means it is overheating and therefore does represent a danger warning.

If in modem mode the light shows as magenta, which some people interpret as red.

not a case of interpretation.
on some hubs it most definitely is red. i've had 2 hub3 and my first one is was solid red, my second one is magenta.

Re: Casual question about Hub 3

Oh I forgot to add that, it is in modem only mode

Still the question is more about why the lights are reversed as in whu wasnt a green light used to mean OK everything working?

Re: Casual question about Hub 3

the hub isn't a traffic light so comparing it to that is pointless.

red means a fault - overheating
magenta means the hub is in modem mode (but often the LED is red rather than magenta).

Re: Casual question about Hub 3

Ok, curt, but succinct, I see your point. The Hub 3 will never be used at traffic junctions to stop cars. Thank you
