Virgin Kids features

Hi all,

Can anyone please offer any advice on the Kids app?

It's still being referenced on the community support page at

https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Apps/ct-p/Apps

And also the sales page https://www.virginmedia.com/shop/kids-app/kids-app-faqs

However, it doesn't seem to exist on the Google play store, or the Apple store. Has it just been shut down or am I doing something wrong when I try to download?

Also, how do you allow kids to use the TV app? Can you create additional profiles with parental restrictions, or how do you limit them to just kids channels.

Thanks in advance

Jon

Re: Virgin Kids features

The VM TV kids app was withdrawn in 2019.  Not sure why you are still seeing reference to it. The VM Forum Team should be able to get those links checked out and corrected as necessary.

The VM TV Go app can only be signed into with the primary username of the account holder.  It isn't possible to set restrictions for children's use of the app.

Re: Virgin Kids features

Thanks Graham,

That's really helpful,  and I suspected the case. The information on multiple Virgin sites was contradictory, so just wanted some confirmation.

Does virgin offer anything then for kids other than through the TV box itself? I did see reference to the hopster app, but that looked to be on the TV box rather than app based.

Not wanting to compare,  but the Sky kids app we've just moved away from was incredibly slick, and could be heavily locked down, so just wanting to see what other parents on the virgin platform do, in case I'm missing something.

Thanks again.

Re: Virgin Kids features

Hi Pernodman,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community.

Apologies for the confusion as I do think it's an old link.

I've not been able replicate it here but found this - https://www.virginmedia.com/shop/tv/set-top-box-and-apps

With no mention of the Kids app etc.

Best,

Re: Virgin Kids features

Thanks John,

As a prospective customer, moving from Sky, I searched on Google for "virgin media kids" to see what was available for kids, and below link was 4th or 5th result

https://www.virginmedia.com/shop/kids-app/kids-app-faqs

While I fully appreciate that this is an old link, the content it is still live and suggests that the app still exists.

Thanks for the link on the apps. Unfortunately TV Go doesn't look like there is any way to lock the app down to specific profiles, so isn't kid safe.

Thanks for your help.

Jon

Re: Virgin Kids features

Hi Jon,

Thanks for coming back to us on this one and for providing the link.

I have sent this over to the relevant teams for them to look at if we need to remove this. If so, they will get this sorted for you.

Sometimes we leave links active in case someone is still using the content but as already mentioned above, this app was removed in 2019.

In terms of the TV Go app, have you looked at the parental controls to see if this will help?

Thanks,
